CASEM Emergency Sideline Course

About the Series

The course will consist of both small group learning hands-on workshops and didactic sessions.

At the end of the day, the learner will be able to:

  • Identify and manage emergency sideline assessments
  • Recognize and practice effective and efficient Techniques for Emergency Sideline Procedures
  • Coordinate integrated medical team members in the assessment and delivery of emergency sideline management

8:45 am – Spinal Care (Part 1) – Updates

10:30 am – Break

10:45 am – Spinal Care (Part 2) – Equipment Removal

12:30 pm – Lunch Break

1:15 pm – Concurrent Workshops (45 mins – repeated)

  1. Splinting – different splinting techniques
  2. Bleeding – tips on bleeding
  3. Transport – proper lifting and transport techniques

3:30 pm – Break

3:45 pm – Concurrent Workshops (35 mins – repeated)

  1. AED
    1. Indications for use of AED
    2. Operational checklists for AED use
    3. Demonstration of AED use
  2. Airway Management
    1. BVM Equipment and technique
    2. Different rescue airways and administration
    3. Indication and contraindication of the use
